Electrical Estimator – Project manager

We specialize exclusively in residential projects, including new construction, remodels, and service upgrades. We’re expanding our team and looking for a detail-oriented, experienced Electrical Estimator to contribute to our continued growth and profitability.
Position Overview:
We’re seeking a skilled Electrical Estimatorwith experience preparing competitive bids and a strong grasp of project cost management. The successful candidate will analyze project documents, develop accurate estimates, and identify solutions to increase profitability. Additionally, you will be responsible for setting up and maintaining detailed job cost reports, managing budgets, tracking costs and change orders, managing electrical projects by communicating with electricians, job scheduling, ensuring adherence to project timelines and specifications, and scheduling with clients and handling invoicing and timely payment collection. You will also negotiate contracts effectively while ensuring full compliance with NEC regulations and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze project design and construction documents to determine electrical scope and requirements
- Develop accurate, competitive, and profitable cost estimates for residential electrical projects
- Identify cost-saving measures and propose solutions to improve project profitability
- Conduct site visits to gather detailed job information and assess existing conditions
- Prepare and submit professional bid proposals and follow up with clients and contractors
- Setup and maintain comprehensive job cost reports, including budgets, commitments, forecasts, contingency reserves, and actual spends
- Track costs by bid package, field order, and client-defined change categories
- Manage and keep detailed records of all change orders, ensuring accurate tracking and billing
- Manage electrical projects, including job scheduling, ensuring adherence to project timelines and specifications, and coordinating communication with electricians
- Schedule and maintain regular communication with clients regarding project status and timelines
- Send invoices to clients and follow up to ensure on-time payments
- Negotiate contracts with clients and subcontractors, ensuring favorable terms and successful contract management
- Ensure full compliance with NEC regulations and other applicable electrical codes and standards
- Collaborate closely with the owner and field team to ensure alignment on scope, budget, and schedule
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of residential electrical codes, market pricing, and industry trends
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in residential electrical estimating or related field experience
- Strong knowledge of electrical estimating practices and cost control strategy
- Demonstrated ability to create competitive, detailed bids with strong attention to profitability
- Proven negotiation skills and successful contract management track record
- In-depth knowledge of NEC regulations and compliance standards
- Experience with job cost reporting, financial tracking, change order management, project coordination, job scheduling, and invoicing/payment collection
- Strong understanding of residential electrical systems, materials, and code requirements
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents and electrical plans
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable working with clients, subcontractors, and electricians
- Proficiency with spreadsheets (Excel, Google Sheets) and/or estimating and project management software
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites as required
- Must be able to pass a background check
