In this high-impact role, you will lead advanced analytics initiatives and deliver insights that inform key merchandising decisions across our national retail footprint. You will partner closely with the Buying, Category Management, and Planning teams to improve business processes through data-driven solutions, develop scalable reporting infrastructure, and identify opportunities through deep analysis and testing. Total Wine & More is looking for a Senior Analyst, Merchandising Analytics to join our growing Merchandising team in Bethesda, MD. In this high-impact role, you will lead advanced analytics initiatives and deliver insights that inform key merchandising decisions across our national retail footprint. You will partner closely with the Buying, Category Management, and Planning teams to improve business processes through data-driven solutions, develop scalable reporting infrastructure, and identify opportunities through deep analysis and testing. You will report to the Director of Merchandising Analytics.
You will
- Lead efforts to centralize, standardize, and enhance data reporting and analytics across the Merchandising function
- Build and maintain advanced Power BI reports, dashboards, and semantic models to support business performance tracking and decision-making
- Drive the development of scalable data solutions and automate recurring processes to improve efficiency and reliability
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Buying, Planning, and Marketing to understand business needs and translate them into actionable insights
- Analyze large data sets to identify trends, uncover business opportunities, and evaluate performance against KPIs
- Conduct A/B tests and other experimental designs to assess the impact of merchandising strategies and promotions
- Manage and refine market intelligence tools to track competitive activity and inform assortment strategies
- Provide analytical mentorship and support to junior analysts as needed
- Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, Data Science, or a related field preferred
- 1-4 years in a data analyst or business intelligence role, preferably in retail or CPG preferred
- Strong SQL skills with experience querying large datasets and developing performant, readable queries
- Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms such as Google Cloud Platform and BigQuery
- Understanding of relational databases, ETL processes, and data warehouse design principles
- Experience with Python and/or R for data analysis or automation is a strong plus
- Familiarity with Excel VBA for legacy process automation is a plus
