About the Role
Total Wine & More is seeking a Manager, Spirits Category Management to join our Merchandising team in Bethesda, MD. In this role, you will take ownership of the business, enhancing the performance and profitability of the Spirits category through data-driven decision-making, supplier collaboration, and process optimization.
As an individual contributor, you will serve as a key business partner to cross-functional teams across Merchandising, Marketing, and Supply Chain, ensuring alignment on pricing, promotions, assortment strategy, and innovation. You will report to the Senior Director, Spirits Category Management.
You will
Own and drive category initiatives across pricing, assortment, and promotions, providing data-driven recommendations to optimize performance and enhance customer experience.
Lead category reviews – analyzing sales, margin, and trend data to identify opportunities and propose strategic actions to improve results.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Merchandising, Supply Chain, Marketing, and Store Operations to align on category plans, inventory needs, and promotional execution.
Build business plans for new product launches, coordinating with internal partners to ensure successful execution across stores and digital channels.
Champion process improvements within Spirits Category Management, ensuring operational efficiency and accuracy in forecasting, pricing, and promotional planning.
Spearhead reporting and performance tracking for assigned categories, ensuring timely insights and alignment with company goals.
You will come with
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or a related field preferred.
5–8 years of experience in category management, merchandising, or supplier relations, preferably within retail, beverage, or consumer goods industries.
Strong analytical and financial acumen with the ability to interpret complex data and deliver clear, actionable insights.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Power BI, Nielsen/IRI, or similar reporting tools preferred.
Excellent communication and presentation skills with experience influencing cross-functional stakeholders and leadership.
Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
Passion for the beverage alcohol industry and a strong understanding of spirits category trends preferred.
