Total Wine & More is seeking a Buyer, Spirits to join our growing Merchandising team in Bethesda, MD. In this role, you will help develop and manage supplier relationships while contributing to assortment planning, product development, and promotional execution across the Spirits Direct portfolio. You will play a key role in identifying category opportunities, supporting go-to-market strategies, and partnering cross-functionally to grow sales and achieve margin targets. You will
- Support the development of Spirits Direct assortment strategies, including the sourcing and launch of new brands and products across a range of categories and price points.
- Build and maintain relationships with domestic and international suppliers, attending trade shows and engaging in routine check-ins to ensure timely product development and delivery.
- Partner with cross-functional teams—including Compliance, Supply Chain, Category Management and Marketing—to support product registration, launch timelines, and retail execution.
- Manage item setup, forecasting inputs, and supply chain collaboration for assigned brands to ensure proper inventory flow and in-stock performance.
- Track and analyze sales, margin, and assortment performance to inform decision-making and identify opportunities for refinement or growth.
- Coordinate with Digital, Promotions, and Creative teams to deliver compelling product storytelling and in-store merchandising support.
- Serve as a resource to the field and store teams by responding to questions, gathering feedback, and ensuring product and program clarity.
- Contribute to special projects or initiatives related to Spirits Direct growth, vendor onboarding, or operational improvements as needed.
- Bachelor's Degree Business, Merchandising, Marketing or a related field preferred
- 3-6 years experience in retail buying, category management, or merchandising
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial and performance data
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative mindset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint); experience with merchandising systems or forecasting tools a plus
- Passion for the beverage alcohol industry and curiosity about evolving spirits trends
