Duties
- Greet customers warmly and identify their optical needs through active listening and consultation
- Assist with spectacle lens dispensing, eyewear fittings, and frame adjustments to ensure optimal comfort and style
- Operate POS (Point of Sale) systems accurately for sales transactions and manage cash register operations responsibly
- Support laboratory processes related to optical fabrication to ensure quality standards are met
- Maintain patient confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) policies and clinical confidentiality policies
- Educate customers on eyewear options, including frames, lenses, and contact lenses, using medical terminology when appropriate
- Ensure compliance with state healthcare regulations and clinic policies during all patient interactions
Skills
- Knowledge of ophthalmology, optics, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to eye care
- Experience with optical laboratory procedures, spectacle lens dispensing, eyewear fittings, and frame adjustments
- Familiarity with Compulink EMR/EHR (Electronic Medical Records/Electronic Health Records) systems
- Retail sales experience combined with excellent customer service skills to create a welcoming environment
- Ability to perform basic math calculations for retail transactions and optical measurements
- Knowledge of health regulation policies including HIPAA, and clinic safety protocols
- Proficiency in POS systems and cash register operations for smooth transaction processing
