Job Purpose
The Dispatch Supervisor – Morning Shift is responsible for leading and managing morning dispatch operations, ensuring efficient routing, on-time deliveries, and compliance with company policies and safety standards. This role supervises dispatch staff and drivers while maintaining strong communication with internal departments and customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee routing of pick-ups during the morning shift, maximizing efficiency of company drivers and owner-operators.
- Ensure all scheduled and priority (HOT) customer pick-ups and deliveries are completed on time.
- Track and monitor staff and driver attendance, time logs, and absences.
- Monitor and minimize overtime hours for company drivers while updating the daily report.
- Oversee Uline delivery attempts and redeliveries to maintain required performance metrics.
- Support dock operations to ensure all freight is dispatched for delivery.
- Manage dispatch workload and ensure compliance with company and state regulations (e.g., CA Meal & Rest Break Policy, TTD Attendance Policy).
- Facilitate accurate AM-to-PM turnover with the evening dispatch supervisor.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers, assisting with issues that arise during pick-ups and deliveries.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, including incident prevention and post-accident procedures.
- Track departmental expenses and initiate cost-saving measures.
- Respond promptly to internal and external communications.
- Monitor dispatch boards using GPS software and Samsara communication tools.
- Verify accuracy of driver pre- and post-trip inspections and required documentation.
- Conduct timely performance reviews for hourly drivers and dispatch staff.
- Provide coaching, discipline, and recognition to employees as appropriate.
- Administer responsibilities related to driver citations, toll usage, and punch times.
- Collaborate with other departments to align transportation operations with company goals.
- Ensure compliance with established standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Supervise fueling process, follow protocols established on (SOP’s)
- Supervise key process, assure drivers are following and adhering to the key process.
- Conduct meetings and training with drivers with a high focus on safety and performance.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 3 years of administrative or transportation/logistics experience required.
- Associate degree or college-level coursework in business preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication; bilingual English/Spanish required.
Pay:
This position is fully onsite at our Rancho Cucamonga, CA location and has a salary of $68,640. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.
