What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimator position at Total Security Solutions Inc.?

Our salespeople win on speed, customization, and experience — and every one of those wins starts with a number you put in front of them. As a TSS Estimator, you turn drawings, specs, and materials into accurate quotes and takeoffs that keep deals moving and protect our margins. The bulletproof barriers you price out end up in banks, schools, courthouses, and government buildings across the country, protecting people and property. Get the number right, get it back fast, and you’ve just moved real protection one step closer to the people who need it.
What you’ll do
You’re the engine room behind our sales team — the person they count on when a customer needs a price and they need it now. Day to day, that means:
- Building accurate estimates, project pricing, and takeoffs for custom bullet-resistant barrier projects
- Turning quotes around quickly — finding and building process efficiencies that shrink proposal lead times
- Being the go-to product and component expert, giving our salespeople the answers and support they need to close
- Developing consistent, up-to-date pricing and best pricing practices — including pricing standards for key accounts
- Pricing components for new product launches and keeping component details technically accurate across all TSS documents
- Owning your quarterly Rocks and departmental objectives, and getting a little better at all of it every day
You’ll fit right in if you…
- Move fast without cutting corners — you’re organized, detail-oriented, and juggle multiple quotes at once without dropping one
- Treat every request — from a salesperson down the hall or a customer across the country — like it matters, because it does
- Communicate clearly and confidently on the phone, over email, and in person, with people at every level
- Are comfortable with technology and genuinely like learning new systems (Google Workspace and Salesforce CRM are a plus)
- Bring an Associate’s degree plus 3 years in estimating, sales, business, or a related experience, equivalent combination of experience will be considered.
- Are willing to travel to customer locations when a project calls for it
Prior estimating experience is preferred, but the right mix of speed, precision, and people skills matters most.
