Job Overview
The Safety Technician provides essential support to operational areas within industrial/commercial facilities and pipeline locations. Your primary responsibility will be to provide EH&S support, allocating approximately 90% of your time performing observations/safety audits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform periodic audits of Critical Behaviors (Behavior Based Observations), Operating Disciplines (OD Audits), Safe Work Permits, Lock Out Tag Out, and Safety Task Analysis Cards.
- Conduct daily housekeeping audits for identification/correction of hazards.
- Act as single point of contact to customers, providing support on all safety-related issues.
- Assist in the development and management of safety technicians.
- Coordinate with EH&S representatives to complete required tasks in a timely manner.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- A thorough understanding of federal, state, local, company, and client regulations.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Computer literacy, sufficient to communicate effectively through emails and prepare written reports.
- Ability to climb and work from ladders, scaffolds, and elevated platforms.
- Able to wear personal protective equipment, including flame retardant clothing, chemical suits, respirators, breathing air equipment, rescue harness, safety harness with lanyards, hardhats, and other necessary equipment.
Working Environment
You'll be working in a fast-paced outdoor environment, exposed to heat, cold, dust, fumes, or gases, and changes in weather conditions. Ability to work at various heights is also required.
Education Requirements
An Occupational Safety/Health degree or equivalent combination of technical training and/or industrial related safety and health experience is preferred.
