The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels of raw materials, packaging materials, and finished goods within a manufacturing environment focused on powder-based products. This position ensures inventory accuracy through daily cycle counts, reconciliations, and coordination with production, purchasing, and warehouse teams. The role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly inventory cycle counts for raw materials, packaging materials, and finished goods.
- Maintain accurate inventory records in the ERP or warehouse management system.
- Reconcile discrepancies by investigating variances, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions.
- Work closely with Production to track material usage and support production planning.
- Monitor inventory transactions such as material issues, returns, adjustments, and transfers.
- Ensure all inventory areas are organized, properly labeled, and compliant with GMP and safety standards.
- Assist with receiving activities, including verifying quantities and ensuring proper documentation.
- Prepare inventory reports for management, including stock levels, consumption rates, and deviation findings.
- Support cycle count audits and physical inventory activities.
- Collaborate with Purchasing to alert low stock levels and ensure timely replenishment.
- Maintain FIFO (First In, First Out) practices and other inventory control methods.
- Follow all company safety, quality, and sanitation policies.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
- 2 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or a manufacturing environment (powder manufacturing preferred but not required).
- Experience with ERP or warehouse management systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, Fishbowl, or similar).
- Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Must be able to develop and deliver organizational tools to set up the team and organize the warehouse effectively.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of GMP, FDA, or food safety standards is a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in warehouse/manufacturing conditions.
