What are the responsibilities and job description for the Corporate Counsel position at Total Mortgage Services LLC?
We are seeking an experienced and business-minded attorney to serve as a key legal advisor to an independent mortgage banking company and its affiliated entities. This role will partner closely with executive leadership and business stakeholders to provide strategic legal counsel across a broad spectrum of matters, including mortgage lending and servicing, regulatory compliance, employment law, corporate governance, commercial transactions, litigation management, and risk mitigation.
As an Attorney, you will:
- Negotiate, write, and execute agreements and contracts.
- Offer counsel on a variety of legal issues including employment, corporate governance, contracts, and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with executives and employees to achieve common goals.
- Identify and communicate legal risks and available mitigation strategies.
- Explain legal language in agreements, regulations and statutes.
- Research unique legal issues impacting the organization(s) by identifying applicable statutes, judicial decisions, and codes.
- Keep abreast of legislative changes that may affect the company and its affiliates.
- Perform pre-litigation work, including conducting investigations and assembling relevant documents, to minimize risks and maximize legal rights.
- Provide training to company and its affiliates on substantive legal topics.

Education & Experience:
- Extensive working knowledge of the legal field
- Experience with tax, real estate and transactional matters.
- Litigation experience a plus
- A Juris Doctorate from an accredited institution
Certifications and Licenses:
Admitted to the Bar of the State of Connecticut
