Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School-Based Counselor to join our team. This role is responsible for providing both individual and group school counseling sessions to students, to identify issues affecting school performance, address social or behavioral problems, assess students’ abilities and interests, and develop the skills needed for academic success. The ideal candidate is a strong leader and collaborator who advocates for student well-being and works to promote success for all learners.
Salary Range: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group school counseling focused on academic, social-emotional, and career-related development
- Develop and implement programming for students of varied age and grade levels
- Support students with transition planning and future goal planning
- Monitor student progress and provide guidance on improving academic, social, and emotional performance
- Coordinate with teachers, staff, and families to address student needs
- Maintain detailed and accurate student records
- Participate in regular meetings with other team members
- Lead student group activities focused on social-emotional learning
- Deliver professional development training to staff on social-emotional learning, overcoming student challenges, and student interest/ability
- Engage in classroom observations to gain insight into academic, social, and emotional strengths and weaknesses of each student
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in School Counseling, Social Work, or School Psychology
- Valid Pennsylvania School Counseling or School Psychologist Certification, or valid LCSW
- Valid clearances, as required by Pennsylvania Department of Education
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Experience working in an educational setting
- Minimum two years of experience in school counseling
- Strong organizational and time management skills
Working Conditions
- 30 to 40 hours per week during the typical school calendar year, August through June (hours may vary based on candidate qualifications, client caseload, and company needs)
- Office-based role
- Pay commensurate with experience and qualifications, negotiable
