COMPANY DESCRIPTION
Total Highspeed is a locally owned and operated company with over 13 years of experience in the wireless internet business. Our knowledge of wireless technology allows us to provide superior quality, high-speed internet where DSL and cable don't work. Currently, we service over 150 cities in Missouri and Arkansas, making us the largest fixed wireless internet provider in the state of Missouri.
JOB SUMMARY
Tower technicians perform tower maintenance, upgrades, and repairs at heights greater than two hundred feet. They practice safe climbing procedures and are knowledgeable about radio frequency transmission because they are expected to set infrastructure on towers for our network. Tower technicians not only work on existing towers and equipment but also find new locations and at times assist in building new towers. Their attention to detail and ability to work in extreme conditions make them pivotal to expanding and maintaining Total Highspeed's entire network.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Climbing towers and placing new equipment in optimal locations to provide service.
- Repairing damage to tower equipment.
- Responding to emergency tower maintenance at all hours.
- Planning and mapping out radio frequencies on towers to avoid interference and optimize connections.
EDUCATION & RELATED EXPERIENCE
- A high school diploma or equivalent GED is required.
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving and safety record are required.
- Wireless ISP experience a plus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND WORK REQUIREMENTS
- Be unafraid of heights and working at heights but respectful of safety procedures
- Have a basic understanding of TCP/IP networking, subnets, and routing
- Be willing to work in all kinds of weather and all hours of the night or day as needed
- Have experience identifying all major types of video, RF, fiber, and power connectors
- Be a proficient sweep tester and ability to use a multi-meter
- Meet 275lbs weight limit due to safety restrictions
- Be able to lift and carry 75 pounds
- Be willing to travel with possible overnight travel and overnight emergency maintenance
- Have knowledge of Cat5 and shielded Cat5 termination and Cat6 standards and termination
- Have excellent written and oral communication skills
- Be able to learn Router OS MikroTik
- Have knowledge of fiber networking
- Knowledge of ropes & rigging techniques
- Have excellent rappelling skills
- Ability to work individually and in a team environment
- Tower safety training certification from Com-Train or similar
- Radio Frequency understanding (IE vertical vs Horizontal Polarization, frequency planning, channel coordination, Fresnel zones)
