Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable, versatile Driver & General Shop Laborer to join our team. In this role you will split your time between making local/regional deliveries/pickups and supporting shop operations. When not on the road, you will perform general shop labor and assist our laser cutting and press brake operators with material handling, part deburring, light machining, and shop cleaning and organizing.
Key Responsibilities
Driving & Logistics (Approx. 30–50% of time)
- Operate company delivery vehicle (pickup with 24’ flatbed trailer) safely to deliver finished goods to customers and pick up raw materials or outside processed parts.
- Load and unload vehicles using forklifts, pallet jacks, or overhead cranes, ensuring loads are properly strapped and secured.
- Create packing slips in our shop management software and verify the accuracy of all paperwork, packing slips, and bills of lading (BOL).
- Build custom skids and boxes for shipping decorative or fragile items with other carriers.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and inform shop management of any required maintenance or repairs needed on shop vehicles, forklifts or other equipment you are using.
Laser & Press Brake Support (Approx. 30–40% of time)
- Assist laser operators with unloading cut parts, shaking out skeletons, and staging raw sheet metal stock.
- Help press brake operators with material handling, staging formed parts, and organizing tooling.
- Perform basic post-processing tasks, including deburring, grinding, cleaning, and sorting parts according to job orders.
- Perform basic visual quality checks on cut or bent parts using calipers, tape measures, or protractors.
General Labor & Shop Maintenance (Approx. 30-40% of time)
- Keep shop floors, laser cutting beds, and press brake work areas clean and clear of scrap or safety hazards.
- Move materials, pallets, and trash/scrap hoppers around the facility.
- Support inventory counts, hardware insertion, or general packaging/palletizing as needed.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
Requirement
Driver’s License
Valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record and experience driving vehicles with trailers.
Material Handling
Experience or willingness to be certified on forklifts and overhead cranes.
Physical Demands
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly, stand/walk for extended periods, and work in a manufacturing shop environment.
Technical Aptitude
Ability to read basic job shop drawings, tape measures, and work orders. Prior sheet metal or shop experience is a strong plus.
Soft Skills
Dependable, detail-oriented, strong safety mindset, and comfortable wearing multiple hats in a fast-paced environment.
Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
