About the Role
Responsibilities
Provide skilled occupational therapy treatments under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist and according to the established plan of care.
- Implement therapeutic activities and interventions that promote independence with activities of daily living (ADLs), instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs), upper extremity function, coordination, strength, balance, and cognitive skills.
- Assist residents in improving functional performance, safety, and independence through individualized treatment approaches.
- Monitor patient progress and communicate changes in condition to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
- Accurately complete documentation and treatment notes using an electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Educate residents and caregivers on adaptive equipment, energy conservation techniques, home safety, fall prevention, and strategies to maximize independence.
- Collaborate with Occupational Therapists and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
Maintain a full clinical caseload while providing compassionate, high-quality occupational therapy services.
Qualifications
- Current State Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) License
- Current CPR/BLS Certification
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance
- Previous experience in geriatrics, home health, assisted living, or skilled nursing is preferred but not required
