Job Overview
Total Care Services, Inc. is hiring compassionate Direct Care Workers (DCWs) to support children enrolled in Maryland’s Home and Community-Based Services Waiver (HCBSW) for Autism Spectrum Disorder. DCWs provide person-centered support in the home and community to help children build skills, increase independence, and participate meaningfully in daily life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support based on each child’s Plan of Care.
  • Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): hygiene, meals, dressing, toileting, laundry.
  • Support mobility and safe transfers.
  • Assist with shopping and accompany to appointments.
  • Implement skill-building activities (communication, socialization, self-care, community integration).
  • Support participation in community activities.
  • Complete daily documentation in required systems (Contact Logs, MarylandLTSS, EVV).
  • Report incidents and follow emergency procedures.
  • Communicate professionally with families, caregivers, and supervisors.
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow all COMAR, Medicaid, and HIPAA requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Must be vaccinated for COVID and have a current TB Test or Chest X-Ray.
  • 100 hours of paid/volunteer experience supporting individuals with Autism or developmental disabilities (including family caregiving).
  • Strong communication, patience, reliability, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs., work in varied home/community settings, and maintain flexible hours.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Successful background checks, drug screening, and required health clearances (e.g., TB, COVID-19 documentation).
  • Must complete COMAR 10.09.56 trainings and ongoing requirements.
