About the Role
TBT is seeking a detail-oriented Research & Data Analyst to support data collection, research, and analysis for a community-focused strategic planning project. This role will gather quantitative and qualitative data, develop summaries, support drafting analytic sections, and collaborate across project workstreams.
Work is primarily remote, with optional or occasional travel to Escalon, CA if requested by the client.
This position is contingent upon contract award.
ResponsibilitiesData Collection & Analysis
- Gather demographic, economic, and market data from reliable public data sources.
- Analyze datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights relevant to community and economic conditions.
- Assist with corridor-level analysis, existing conditions summaries, and profile development.
Research Support
- Conduct targeted desktop research on business trends, regional context, land-use patterns, and local economic factors.
- Summarize findings into clear, structured written content for internal team members.
- Support preparation of tables, charts, and visual data representations.
Documentation & Deliverables
- Draft concise, accurate summaries for integration into planning documents.
- Support the Project Manager, Land Use Planner, and Engagement Lead with background data.
- Provide quality control checks for accuracy, citations, and clarity.
Required Qualifications
- 2–4 years of experience in research, data analysis, policy analysis, planning support, or a related field.
- Solid understanding of data interpretation, pattern recognition, and basic analytical methods.
- Experience using research tools, publicly available datasets, and spreadsheets (Excel or Sheets).
- Strong writing skills with the ability to summarize complex information clearly.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting planning, economic development, community development, or public-sector projects.
- Basic familiarity with demographic data, economic indicators, or planning datasets.
- Ability to prepare charts, tables, or visual data summaries.
- Experience working in a remote, collaborative team environment.
Contract Details
- Independent Contractor (1099)
- $45/hour
- Part-time, project-based
- Remote work with occasional travel to Escalon, CA if requested by the client
