What are the responsibilities and job description for the Concrete Estimator position at Total Building Solutions, LLC?
The Concrete Estimator will prepare detailed and accurate estimates for:
- Spread footings and foundation systems
- Slab-on-grade and structural slabs
- Site concrete (curb, sidewalk, paving, approaches, etc.)
- Reinforcing steel and embedded items
- Formwork, pumping, and finishing operations
This role requires strong knowledge of commercial concrete construction and cost control.
Responsibilities
- Review plans, specs, geotechnical reports, and addenda
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for excavation, concrete, rebar, and site work
- Analyze production rates and labor costs
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing
- Prepare competitive bid proposals and clarifications
- Identify scope gaps, exclusions, and risk factors
- Work closely with project managers for smooth hand-off after award
- Maintain historical cost database
Qualifications
- 3 years estimating experience in commercial concrete construction
- Strong understanding of foundations, flatwork, and site concrete
- Ability to read and interpret civil and structural drawings
- Knowledge of rebar, forming systems, and placement methods
- Proficiency in estimating and takeoff software
- Strong math skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines
