Accounting Manager

We are looking for a driven, curious, and self-motivated Accounting Manager to join our team in Charleston, SC. The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the monthly and annual close process and for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and financial statements. Working in a multi-currency environment, this role performs and reviews journal entries and account reconciliations, supports financial reporting and external audits, maintains the chart of accounts, and oversees accounts payable and supplier billing functions. The position partners closely with Company leadership and cross-functional teams and supervises accounting support staff. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in a deadline driven environment and is comfortable balancing hands-on transactional work with broader oversight responsibilities.

Responsibilities

General Accounting & Month-End Close

• Manage and execute the monthly, and annual close process in accordance with the established close calendar and deadlines. Continuously strive to execute the close with increased efficiency, accuracy and timeliness.
• Prepare, review, and post journal entries, accruals, reclassifications, and adjusting entries.
• Perform and review balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations, including prepaids, accruals, and fixed assets (depreciation/amortization).
• Account for multi-currency transactions, including foreign-exchange revaluation and gain/loss analysis.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies, reconciling items, and posting-period errors prior to close.

Financial Reporting

• Prepare and distribute timely and accurate internal and consolidated financial statements.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis (actual vs. budget) as needed.
• Oversee inventory accounting across supplier, manufacturer, and warehouse product flows including production, landed costing, and in transit states.

Travel & Expense / Corporate Cards

• Administer the corporate credit card and travel-and-expense program, including monthly recording, statement distribution, and accounting approvals.
• Review expense reports for accuracy, policy compliance, and proper coding within the expense management and ERP systems.
• Prepare periodic expense recaps and provide system training to new users as needed.

Compliance & Audit

• Coordinate financial audits and bank examinations, including organizing request lists, preparing schedules, and responding to auditor inquiries.
• Support regulatory and customs/tariff compliance by reviewing documentation for accuracy prior to filing.
• Maintain and update the chart of accounts and related items, ensuring proper structure and consistency.
• Help develop, document, and maintain accounting policies, and procedures.
• Identify and maintain effective internal controls over financial reporting.

Supervision & Collaboration

• Supervise, train, and develop accounting support staff.
• Partner with Operations, Marketing, Sales and other departments to support reporting and resolve issues.
• Perform other duties and ad hoc projects as assigned by leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including full-cycle month-end close.
• Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skill.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior supervisory or team-lead experience.
• Public accounting experience; CPA or progress toward certification.
• Experience in a multi-currency and/or import/distribution environment.
• Experience in the Consumer Product Goods industry.
• Experience in manufacturing accounting and landed costs.
• Proficiency with ERP system; Netsuite preferred
• Proficiency with Expense Management system; Concur preferred
