Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly upon arrival and assist with seating arrangements, providing a friendly and professional first impression
- Take accurate food and beverage orders using POS systems, ensuring all special requests are noted and fulfilled
- Serve food and drinks efficiently, maintaining high standards of presentation and quality
- Upsell menu items including wines, spirits, cocktails, and desserts to enhance guest satisfaction and increase sales
- Process cash and card transactions accurately, handling cash handling responsibilities with integrity
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in accordance with food safety regulations, including proper food handling and beverage service procedures
- Assist with bussing tables, resetting dining areas promptly to ensure smooth service flow
- Engage with guests to foster positive relationships, addressing questions about menu items such as wine knowledge or cocktail options
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely delivery of orders and resolve any service issues promptly
Experience
- Previous food service experience in a restaurant setting, preferably with fine dining exposure or in the food industry at large
- Familiarity with POS systems including Aloha POS or Micros POS for processing sales transactions efficiently
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to connect with diverse guests and handle inquiries professionally
- Knowledge of wine, spirits, cocktail preparation, and beverage service techniques
- Experience in upselling menu items to maximize sales opportunities
- Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Basic math skills for accurate cash handling and transaction processing
- Understanding of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and proper food handling procedures
- Previous host/hostess or bussing experience is a plus but not required; hospitality background is highly valued
