Position Summary
The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the manufacturing process, including product mixing, slab processing, film wrap packaging, and downstream packing operations (cartoning, master casing, and palletizing). This role ensures production efficiency, product quality, food safety compliance, and team performance across multiple production areas. The Production Manager plays a critical leadership role in driving operational excellence in a fast-paced snack bar manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Production Operations Management
- Oversee end-to-end production processes including mixing, slab forming, packaging into film wrap, and final packing into cartons and master cases.
- Ensure adherence to production schedules and attainment of daily, weekly, and monthly output goals.
- Optimize line performance across all stages to minimize downtime and maximize throughput.
- Coordinate closely with maintenance to address equipment issues and reduce production interruptions.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop supervisors, leads, and production staff.
- Establish clear expectations, provide performance feedback, and support employee growth.
- Ensure proper staffing, training, and cross-training to maintain operational flexibility.
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
Quality & Food Safety Compliance
- Ensure strict adherence to all food safety standards, including HACCP and GMPs.
- Partner with Quality Assurance to maintain product integrity and compliance with specifications.
- Investigate and resolve quality issues, implementing corrective actions as needed.
Safety Management
- Promote and enforce all workplace safety policies and procedures.
- Identify hazards and implement corrective measures to maintain a safe work environment.
- Lead safety initiatives and ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards.
Operational Excellence
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) including yield, labor efficiency, waste, downtime, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including lean manufacturing and process optimization efforts.
- Drive cost reduction initiatives while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Quality, Maintenance, Operations, Warehouse, and HR teams to ensure smooth operations, top-notch quality, and cultivate a positive culture
- Support production planning and inventory management efforts.
- Communicate effectively with leadership regarding production performance and challenges.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate production records, reports, and compliance documentation.
- Provide regular updates to plant leadership on performance metrics and improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 5 years of experience in food manufacturing or production environment.
- 2 years of leadership experience in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including mixing, forming, and packaging.
- Ability to manage multiple production areas and priorities simultaneously.
Preferred:
- Experience in snack bar or similar food production.
- Familiarity with film wrap packaging and automated packing systems.
- Knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, SQF, Organic, Kosher, GFCO, and other food safety regulations.
- Experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.

Schedule
- Monday through Friday
- 6:30 AM – 5:15 PM
- Occasional overtime as needed to support production demands
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $70,000 annually (salaried position)

Work Environment
- Manufacturing facility with exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures.
- Requires standing, walking, bending, and occasional lifting throughout the shift.
