School Nurse

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Nurse to join our educational team. The School Nurse will play a vital role in promoting student health and wellness, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all students. This position requires strong clinical skills, the ability to assess and respond to student health needs, and a commitment to fostering a healthy school community.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to students with acute and chronic health issues.
• Conduct health assessments and screenings to identify student health needs.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers.
• Develop and implement individualized healthcare plans for students with specific medical conditions.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for students.
• Maintain accurate health records and documentation in compliance with state regulations.
• Educate students and staff on health-related topics, including hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention.
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide basic life support when necessary.
• Monitor immunization records and ensure compliance with state health requirements.

Qualifications

• Valid nursing license (RN) in the state of Connecticut.
• Experience in patient care settings such as PICU or ER is preferred but not required.
• Strong knowledge of physiology and patient assessment techniques.
• Familiarity with medication administration protocols.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a school environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality regarding student health information.

School Nurse for assignment to Torrington Intermediate School. Applicants must hold a valid State of Connecticut Department of Public Health license as a Registered Nurse.
