Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and a deep understanding of sushi-making techniques. This role requires creativity, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality dishes in a fast-paced environment. The Sushi Chef will play a crucial role in menu planning and ensuring that all sushi is prepared in accordance with food safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present various types of sushi, including nigiri, sashimi, and rolls, with precision and artistry.
• Collaborate with the kitchen team to develop innovative sushi menu items that align with seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
• Ensure all food is prepared according to health and safety regulations, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization in the kitchen.
• Manage inventory of sushi ingredients, ensuring freshness and quality while minimizing waste.
• Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques and food safety practices.
• Assist in catering events by preparing sushi platters or special orders as needed.
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of culinary trends related to sushi and Japanese cuisine.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within the food industry, preferably in a fine dining setting.
• Strong culinary skills with expertise in knife skills, meal preparation, and food handling.
• Experience in menu planning and catering is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices for handling raw fish and other ingredients.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
• Previous experience as a dietary aide or within the dietary department is a plus.
