Position Summary
The Quality Control Lead is responsible for supporting production processes; maintains a presence on the floor and overseeing QA staff and answering questions when they arise.
Major Activities Performed
- Oversee personnel to ensure work is completed.
- Work with Manager/Supervisor to ensure proper scheduling of employees based on work.
- Responsible for accessing shift requirements and coverage as needed and directing resources appropriately.
- Responsible for monitoring shift quality requirements and reporting of issues as needed to QC Management.
- Performs trainings as needed on necessary programs, policies, procedures or work instructions.
- Performs quality checks of raw, work in process, and finish product through inspection and visual checks of packaging.
- Performs pre-op inspections and swabs as necessary.
- Performs daily allergen inspections during pre-op and work in progress.
- Performs daily GMP audits in production and the warehouse.
- Collects and logs production/processing samples.
- Ensures all non-conforming products are placed on hold and fully documented.
- Investigates customer complaints as directed.
- Assists QC Supervisor/Manager with other projects as needed.
- Insures compliance with all Company policies, as well as all Federal, State and Local OSHA regulations.
- Compliance to GMP, Food Safety, Food Defense and Food Quality regulations as required by the company, customers and/or government legislations, including timely communication to appropriate facility management of any non-conformity issues or violations found

- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in food science related field or equivalent relevant experience and education
- 3 years’ experience working in a food manufacturing environment;
- 1 year experience in a Quality Control Leadership role in a food manufacturing environment
- Knowledgeable and experienced in general food safety programs and policies - includes government regulations, FDA, USDA, AIB, HACCP, GMP, and Allergen Programs
- Knowledge of Labeling regulations, FDA, COOL, Prop 65, Nutritional Warnings and Health Claims
- Experience of NLEA labeling guidelines and development of nutritional data using ESHA Genesis Programs
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills required.
- Proficient in MS Office, Word, Excel and Outlook.
