Summary: The Packing Specialist is responsible for the packaging of a variety of manufactured products. Packaging workers, or packers, are responsible for properly assembling, preparing and boxing materials or products for distribution.

Education and/or Training
- High School Diploma or GED
- No Experience Needed
- Ability to speak and understand Spanish/English (a plus)
Essential Duties
- Organize, mark, weigh and check products to verify that the measurements and weight meet the order’s specifications.
- Ensure packages are being produced as the standards state and that no pileups, malfunctions or jams occur.
- Inspect all products being packed and material used for packaging to catch any flaws and remove defective items.
- Adhere to and ensure OSHA, FDA & SQF Regulations are met. Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow OSHA, FDA & SQF Regulations
- Perform production duties such as manual lifting, packaging, taping, labeling, operations and sorting.
- Report defective materials or questionable conditions to table leaders and/or department managers
- Break down cardboard for recycling.
- Complete on-going Departmental Training in Safety, cleaning and packaging as needed.
General Skills
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, good manufacturing practices standards
- Must be able to understand and communicate in Spanish.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from CEO, COO, Managers and Colleagues.
- Understand and follow basic verbal and written instructions.
- Effectively communicate information and respond to questions from various levels within the organization
- Possess basic mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
- Perform basic visual quality inspections on products.
- Maintain the production pace of other team members.
- Utilize power tools and various equipment as needed to perform duties.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed. The position may require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day. The employee may reach above shoulder heights or below the waist and lift as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday. The employee must be able to lift 15 pounds and use proper lifting techniques.
Work Environment: The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas that require the use of personal protective equipment. For the most part the position is exposed to ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a Full time position with potential for growth after 90 days based on performance. Work: Monday- Friday with hours of work from 8:30am-5:00pm. Some Saturdays and overtime may be required to meet production goals.
