Position Overview:
The Assistant Kitchen Manager is passionate about preparing and delivering an amazing dining experience for our guests using healthy, structured food preparation specifications. The Assistant Kitchen Manager will work closely with their Sous Chef, Executive Sous Chef, Executive Chef and General Manager to deliver a memorable experience for the restaurant's guests and associates. The Assistant Kitchen Manager position offers an opportunity to work alongside a group of professional, hard-working, energetic people who are all empowered to do whatever it takes to deliver an exceptional experience. The ability to work in a team environment and lead the kitchen staff in following the systems is essential to this position.
What You'll Do:
- Assist in hiring, training, and developing kitchen staff to ensure a high-performing team
- Supervise and motivate team members to meet service standards and kitchen goals
- Monitor employee timekeeping daily to ensure staff are clocking in and out according to scheduled shifts and not working unauthorized early or late hours
- Provide coaching and corrective action as needed to ensure compliance with labor expectations
- Review daily event sheets to create accurate prep lists and ensure timely execution of menus
- Contribute to recipe development, plating specifications, and the creation of daily specials
- Conduct regular line checks to verify product quality, station readiness, and food safety
- Oversee the setup, cleanliness, and organization of all kitchen areas, including coolers and freezers
- Ensure the kitchen meets all health department, Eco Sure, and brand sanitation standards
- Conduct regular kitchen inspections and proactively address any issues
- Uphold proper food handling practices, cleanliness, and equipment maintenance
- Complete required food safety and Serve-Safe certifications and ensure team compliance
- Monitor food inventory, help with monthly counts, and ensure product rotation using FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures
- Oversee delivery unloading, confirming boxes are properly dated and stored
- Control waste and manage portioning to support food cost goals

What We're Looking For:
- High School or G.E.D.
- A minimum of 2 years of kitchen experience
- Previous supervisory experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic Computer/Technical skills are a plus
- Carrying/Lifting to 50 pounds
- Punctuality with the ability to observe regular and consistent attendance
- Contribute to a positive team environment
