About the Role

The Manager, Software Development Engineering is responsible for leading software development teams, overseeing front-end engineering initiatives, and ensuring the successful execution of software development projects. The role requires strong technical leadership, expertise in Agile and DevOps methodologies, and the ability to guide engineering teams through the full Software Development Life Cycle while delivering high-quality business solutions.

Responsibilities

• Engineering Leadership
• Lead and manage software development teams to deliver enterprise applications.
• Mentor, coach, and develop engineering team members.
• Monitor team performance and provide constructive feedback.

• Drive engineering best practices across development teams.
• Support organizational technology and business objectives.
• Software Development & Delivery
• Oversee the complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Manage front-end application development initiatives.
• Ensure delivery of high-quality, scalable, and maintainable software solutions.
• Guide development teams through Agile software delivery processes.
• Support application lifecycle management and continuous improvement.
• Ensure adherence to software engineering standards and methodologies.
• Agile & DevOps Management
• Lead teams operating within Agile or Scaled Agile (SAFe) frameworks.
• Promote DevOps principles and operational excellence.
• Support adoption of ITSM, ITIL, ALM, and related operational frameworks.
• Drive continuous integration and continuous delivery practices.
• Monitor development processes and identify opportunities for optimization.
• Ensure efficient project execution across engineering teams.
• Technical Strategy & Collaboration
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to define technology solutions.
• Provide technical leadership for front-end development initiatives.
• Support technology planning and engineering decision-making.
• Facilitate effective communication across cross-functional teams.
• Align software development efforts with business priorities.
• Assist in resolving complex technical and operational challenges.
• Front-End Engineering
• Lead development efforts utilizing modern front-end technologies.
• Provide technical guidance for ReactJS-based applications.
• Support projects utilizing Node.js, Next.js, or Angular where applicable.
• Encourage adoption of modern development standards and best practices.
• Review technical designs and implementation strategies.
• Promote high-quality user interface development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least five years of experience in software development or a related technical field.
• Minimum of five years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
• Five to eight years of front-end software development experience.
• Demonstrated experience managing front-end development teams.
• Strong experience with ReactJS.
• Experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies.
• Experience with DevOps and operational frameworks.
• Knowledge of Agile software development practices.
• Experience with ITSM, ITIL, Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), and software development frameworks.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Required Skills

• Experience with Node.js and/or Next.js.
• Experience with AngularJS.
• Experience working within Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
• Understanding of Agile SDLC methodologies.
• Three or more years of Property and Casualty (P&C) insurance industry experience.
• Experience leading enterprise software engineering teams across multiple technology initiatives.
