## About the Role

Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is seeking a **Principal Software Lead Engineer** to join the Integrated Secure Processing Solutions (SPS) team in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This role focuses on mission-critical embedded software solutions supporting Mission Systems, with an emphasis on secure communications and complex systems where mission execution is paramount.

The successful candidate will bring expert embedded software engineering capabilities along with technical leadership, program execution, cost and schedule management, and customer-requirement translation skills. ## Key Responsibilities

- Demonstrate expert proficiency in **embedded C/C and Python** throughout the software development lifecycle.

- Drive software engineering excellence by delivering high-quality, reliable solutions that meet functional and performance requirements.

- Lead the development of technical proposals and detailed program-level cost estimates during bid and proposal cycles.

- Coordinate software development execution for smaller engineering teams, ensuring technical quality and alignment with program cost and schedule.

- Translate customer requirements into comprehensive end-to-end system solutions while balancing technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

- Estimate, track, and communicate program cost, schedule, and risk metrics in alignment with earned value management.

- Identify potential technical and program risks early and implement proactive mitigation strategies.

- Manage cost accounts across teams of engineers.

- Work with Integrated Master Schedules for multi-year programs.

- Apply risk and opportunity frameworks to manage complex program execution within schedule and cost constraints.

## Required Qualifications

- Experience with **Cost Account Management** across a team of engineers.

- Experience working with an **Integrated Master Schedule (IMS)** for a multi-year program.

- Experience using **risk/opportunity frameworks** to manage complex program execution within schedule and cost constraints.

- Experience performing **Product Owner duties**, including scope management and backlog management.

- **Active and transferable SECRET security clearance** required prior to start date.

- **U.S. citizenship required**, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for the required security clearance.

- Typically, a degree in **Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)** and a minimum of **8 years of prior relevant experience**, or an advanced degree in a related field and a minimum of **5 years of experience**.

- Experience with multi-threaded, real-time embedded applications.

- Experience leading proposals and bidding exercises using the **SEER parametric estimation tool**.

- Experience with Agile development methodology.

## Compensation & Benefits

- **Salary range:** $107,500–$204,500 USD.
