Job Description

Torch Technologies is seeking highly skilled and experienced defense Data Scientist to join our dynamic engineering team that supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).  The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in managing data lifecycle operations, coordinating with global test ranges, and ensuring contract compliance. Proven record of enhancing operational efficiency through SOP development, cross-training, and streamlined data workflows.

Responsibilities:  

 

• Plan and perform the determination of which methods are appropriate in order to creatively explore and manipulate extremely massive data sets.
• Lead data management and library operations for a multi-company MDDC team in support of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
• Oversee the full data lifecycle, including cataloging, archiving, retrieval, and compliance with agency standards.
• Develop and execute team staffing strategies to ensure mission readiness and alignment with contract requirements.
• Create and maintain operational plans and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to optimize performance and efficiency.
• Manage and deliver accurate, timely subcontract deliverables under tight deadlines.

 

Job Requirements

 

• Bachelor’s degree in physics.  A master’s degree is a plus.
•  7  years of experience in Data Management
• Active DoD secret clearance, with ability to obtain Top-Secret clearance
• Data Lifecycle management skills
• Experience data management and library operations for multi-company MDDC team supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
• Experience developing and implementing team staffing strategies, ensuring mission readiness and contract alignment.
• Experience creating and maintaining operational plans and standard operating procedures to enhance team performance. 
• Experience in MDDC operations

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

 

• 15 years of experience in data management
