Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with diverse needs, including those with autism and other developmental disabilities. Your primary focus will be on enhancing the quality of life for our clients through personalized care and assistance in daily activities. This position requires a strong commitment to fostering independence and prompting individuals. In a group home setting, it requires cleaning, cooking, shopping, documentation and driving.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and household tasks.
- Implement and monitor care plans tailored to each individual's needs.
- Administer medications as prescribed and ensure proper documentation.
- Conduct patient monitoring, including taking vital signs and reporting any changes in health status.
- Provide support during physical activities, which may involve heavy lifting or assisting clients with mobility.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, ensuring all areas are tidy and hygienic.
- Engage clients in social and recreational activities to promote engagement and well-being.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to ensure comprehensive care.
Experience
- Previous experience in direct support or caregiving is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with medication administration and care plan implementation is a plus.
- Experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum or those requiring hospice care is beneficial.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as needed for client support.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members.
- A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and respecting the dignity of all individuals served.
- Being med certified is a plus as well.
