Position Summary
Torch Clean Energy is seeking a highly motivated Field Engineer to manage multiple solar, storage, substation, and transmission line projects from early construction through initial operation. This role reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Engineering, Procurement and Construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Accountable for multiple solar, storage, substation, and transmission line projects from early construction through initial operation.
- Foster and support contractor relationships throughout construction and commissioning.
- Coordinate project teams, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Reinforce safe behaviors and correct unsafe situations and activity.
- Oversee project work and inspect work products for consistent quality performance and strict alignment with drawings and technical specifications.
- Evaluate and report project health and support decisive corrective action when necessary.
- Identify uncertainty and originate creative field-level solutions to prevent scope creep and reduce change orders.
- Provide concise and accurate reporting and resource tracking to internal stakeholders.
- Confirm adherence with permit requirements and conditions.
- Gain thorough understanding of HV, BESS and PV systems to help lead subsequent projects.
Preferred Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of direct experience in the utility scale renewable energy industry
- Practical knowledge of project management principles and methodologies
- Working knowledge of QA/QC programs and processes
- Project management software/tools and Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated experience contributing to multi-discipline projects
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a technical or construction management related field
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Attention to detail and strong ability to multitask
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-moving team environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to travel 75%
