Position Summary
Under the direction of the Vice President or Directors, the General Manager of Manufacturing helps establish departmental goals and ensures actions are carried out to achieve them. This position is responsible for manufacturing department safety, quality, related expenses, budgeting, manpower control, and general factory floor management. Responsibilities includes developing strategies and participating in company activities to continuously improve and achieve the company’s objectives.

This is a full-time position. Business office “open hours” schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:45 PM. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
This position requires up to 5% travel. This position may be required to travel internationally.

Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety of all associates working within the TOPY manufacturing plant. Primary focus is ensuring all company safety rules are followed. Participate in and lead activities to reduce safety incidents.
- Ensure the quality of all product produced meets customer requirements. Primary focus is ensuring all manufacturing standard work and quality inspections are performed correctly. Additional responsibilities include the proper handling of all product and containment of all non-conforming parts.
- Oversee the development and adherence to budgets for Rim, Paint. Disc and related Manufacturing Departments. This activity includes short term and long term planning.
- Manage and develop departmental strategies for reducing all sources of lost cost.
- In coordination with the Production Controls group, ensures that customer shipment schedules are made on time and ensure accurate inventory counts.
- Provide goals and expectations to the manufacturing department managers and supervisors regarding all aspects of manufacturing department responsibilities.
- Develop the necessary personnel and personnel arrangement to effectively manage the manufacturing department. Perform annual performance reviews and goal setting.
- Monitor daily and weekly production progress and adjust as needed to meet customer schedules.
- Promote a positive morale and work atmosphere in the department and company. Promote strong 5S and visual factory management activities.
- Experience in strategic planning and execution.
- Ability to analyze and assess training and development needs.
- Experience and expert knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, etc.
- Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to staff and produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.
- Ability to participate in and facilitate group/committee meetings.
- BA/BS in industrial, mechanical, or business administration, or a 4-year technical degree in a related discipline.
- 10 years of experience in manufacturing management, preferably in a process-oriented operations and/or related industry.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience managing a significant segment of a large manufacturer or the entire operation of a smaller manufacturer.
- Experience working with manufacturing-based technology, processes, and principles is preferred.
