Our client is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Senior Accountant to support the financial operations of our multi-divisional organization specializing in Energy Efficiency, Engineering, Environmental Testing, HVAC, and Design. This position plays a critical role in maintaining financial integrity, supporting operational performance, and ensuring compliance across multiple business units.

Reporting to the Controller, we are seeking candidates with the following experience:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to)
- Lead and manage month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
- Maintain accuracy and integrity of the general ledger across multiple divisions
- Analyze financial results and provide variance analysis and reporting to leadership
- Support budgeting and forecasting efforts in collaboration with operational leaders
- Assist with revenue recognition and job cost accounting in a project-based environment
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
- Develop, document, and maintain strong internal controls and accounting procedures
- Support annual audit processes and coordinate with external auditors
- Assist with tax preparation support and regulatory filings
- Monitor cash flow activity and assist with financial planning initiatives
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibility:
- This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum of 6 years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Experience in a multi-entity, multi-divisional, or project-based accounting environment
- Highly skilled in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, complex formulas, data analysis, and financial modeling
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Preferred:
- Experience with job cost accounting and revenue recognition in engineering, construction, or professional services industries
- Experience using Acumatica accounting software
- Experience working within an employee-owned (ESOP) organization
