What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grain Originator position at Topflight Grain Cooperative?
Due to a promotion, Topflight Grain Cooperative is looking to fill a Full-time Grain Originator position at our office near Lincoln, IL.
This position is responsible for the administration and efficient daily operation of a full service branch office, including grain origination, accurate accounting for all inbound/outbound grain activity and customer grain settlement, developing customer relationships, and providing a superior level of customer service. Additionally, this position works in assistance to the Merchandiser on grain hedging activities.
Essential Job Functions:

- Responsible for all grain accounting for location and subsequent reporting.
- Purchase grain from patrons and report purchases on web site reporting page.
- Settle grain contracts, write grain checks to customers.
- Assist Merchandiser in Topflight hedging activities and other programs.
- Assist in coordinating Average Price Program.
- Responsible for operating grain scales and computer system, and weighing inbound and outbound truck shipments.
- Responsible for testing grain for test weight and moisture with moisture meter, check for FM using gram scale, and check for damage and properly recording data into computer system.
- Maintains a safe working environment and promotes safety amongst customers and employees.
- Willing to work weekends, seasonal hours, holidays, on-call, and overtime if needed

Working Environment:
Most of the time is spent in a standard office environment. Occasional exposure to noise from machinery, alarms, and grain trucks. Occasional exposure to grain dust.
Typical Working Hours:
Non-Harvest Hours: Monday-Friday 7am-4pm.
Additional weekend and evening hours may be required due to business needs.
Harvest Hours: Monday-Saturday 7am-7pm, Sunday 12pm-6pm.
Hours may vary due to business needs.
