Learn more about working with us at topconcareers.com Topcon is looking for a qualified individual to fill the role of a System Test Engineer – Construction & Machine Control Solutions Work Location: Topcon Facility Centre in Concordia sulla Secchia – Modena, Italy Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled System Test Engineer for the local testing facility. This person will be responsible for testing Topcon's full product line of Construction and Machine Control solutions. Job Duties: • Developing test plans that meet new product delivery schedules. • Author test procedures for new features and regression testing that ensure repeatable and thorough testing. • Execute Product Validation and Verification in an efficient and effective manner. • Support engineering R&D by evaluating machine performance to verify new hardware and firmware development & releases. • Understanding customer requirements and making sure product meet those requirements. • Troubleshooting reported problems and providing technical support to sales and customer support • Improve and expand lab and field-testing facilities and capabilities. • Work with and communicate with Topcon’s, product management, technical support, sales support, production, engineering, R & D and other departments on issues affecting our ability to deliver field support to end users and dealers. • May perform other duties as assigned Quality & WHS Compliance: • Comply with the requirements of the Topcon Employee Handbook and Topcon Global Code of Conduct. • Employees are responsible for reporting hazards to their supervisor / manager and / or health and safety representatives and for taking reasonable steps to protect the health and safety of any person who may be immediately affected or threatened by workplace activity. • Employees maintain knowledge of equal opportunity principles including discrimination, harassment and bullying expectations Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: • Knowledge of serial, ISO CAN, radio, and other machine to machine communication type • Understanding of basics of GNSS and Machine Control theory is a plus • Excellent troubleshooting skills • Computer skills in basic Microsoft Office suite • Ability to work with individuals from a variety of technical and cultural backgrounds • Ability to prioritize and handle many tasks/activities at once • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and move in, on, and around construction equipment. • Prior product test/development experience • Strong analytical skills • Fluent in English Preferred Qualifications & Experience: • Construction/Surveying background or Technical or Trade Qualifications in Construction, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Computing or Hydraulics and/or equivalent experience Training or Facilitation skills • Experience supporting, maintaining, testing and installing Topcon 3D machine control systems is desirable • Experience operating a Dozer, Grader, Excavator & Skid Steer Loader. • Ability to assess and determine engineering employees machine operation competency knowledge. • Sound understanding of GPS technology. • Computing, welding, fabricating and hydraulics experience desirable. Sound understanding of Workplace Health and Safety, Environmental legislation and requirements. • Extensive site-based experience • Valid Driver's license Additional Information: • Most of the job will be performed in an outdoor environment in and around agricultural equipment. There will also be some testing completed in a lab environment and documentation completed on a PC in the office. • Domestic and International travel likely to be required • Meeting outside of normal business hours will likely be required • Salary range between 40K – 45K gross Yearly We’d love to hear from you!
