Position Summary
The Grounds Person is a key member of our tree care crews. This role supports climbers, crew leaders, and arborists in all phases of tree care operations. Responsibilities include maintaining worksite safety, assisting with equipment operation, and learning the fundamentals of arboriculture. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone seeking long-term growth in the tree care industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist climbers and crew leaders with ground operations and job site setup.
- Participate in safety briefings and follow all company safety procedures.
- Properly wear and utilize personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain safe work zones with cones, signage, and flagging.
- Operate and maintain hand tools, chainsaws, and chippers safely.
- Support tree felling, pruning, and removal procedures.
- Assist with driving, backing, dumping, and parking vehicles (if authorized).
- Recognize and avoid electrical hazards.
- Communicate effectively with crew members and supervisors.
- Report to the designated location on time daily and maintain professionalism.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Prior experience in tree care, landscaping, or outdoor labor preferred but not required.
- Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and willingness to learn.
