Summary
Our client is a rapidly growing third-party logistics provider and is seeking a seasoned, self-driven Sales Executive specializing in open deck, flatbed, and general freight. This division operates with the agility of a mid-sized brokerage backed by the financial strength of a large, diversified parent organization. Freight mix is heavily concentrated in open deck commodities such as structural steel, tubing, agricultural equipment, and construction materials, with additional dry van support as needed.
This role is designed for high-performing, entrepreneurial sales professionals who thrive in an eat-what-you-kill environment and excel at building business, cultivating relationships, and closing freight opportunities with minimal oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a personal sales strategy targeting open deck, flatbed, and general freight customers
- Prospect, cold call, network, and schedule meetings to build a sustainable revenue pipeline
- Identify, qualify, and onboard new customers while independently managing the full sales cycle
- Leverage an established flatbed-focused carrier network and grow new carrier relationships as needed
- Collaborate closely with operations, leadership, and carrier management teams
- Maintain current knowledge of market conditions, pricing trends, and competitive landscape
- Represent the organization professionally in all communications and customer interactions
Success Expectations
First 45 Days:
- Onboard at least one new customer or be in the final stages of onboarding
- Demonstrate consistent outreach, CRM activity, and active pipeline development
First 6 Months:
- Progress toward managing 50-100 loads per week, depending on customer mix
12-18 Months (Full Ramp):
- Contribute $2M-$4M in annual revenue
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of brokerage or transportation sales experience strongly preferred
- Experience in open deck/flatbed freight is a significant advantage
- Proven ability to prospect, pitch, and close new business independently
- Strong relationship-building skills and a competitive, growth-oriented mindset
- Comfortable with both strategic outreach and higher-volume call blocks
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Based in or willing to relocate to the Kansas City metro area
