Top Self Training Track & Field Club is an AAU/USATF-affiliated program dedicated to helping athletes develop speed, power, and confidence while preparing for championship-level competition. We emphasize biomechanics, injury prevention, and smart progression to support long-term athlete development. Our team competes locally and nationally, with a focus on AAU and USATF championships.
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Assistant Coach for Sprints & Hurdles to support our head coaches in developing youth athletes (middle school through high school). The ideal candidate has a background in sprint and/or hurdle events and is eager to contribute to athlete development and program growth through recruiting.
Responsibilities
- Assist with planning and leading sprint and hurdle training sessions 2–3 times per week.
- Provide technical instruction on sprint mechanics, block starts, and hurdle form.
- Support athletes with individualized feedback and drills to improve performance.
- Collaborate with the head coach and event coaches to align training across groups.
- Travel to meets (local and national) to assist athletes in competition.
- Help with athlete recruiting, outreach, and program growth initiatives.
- Contribute to maintaining a positive, safe, and competitive training environment.
Qualifications
- Sprint and/or hurdle competitive background (collegiate preferred).
- Previous coaching or mentoring experience with youth athletes is a plus.
- Knowledge of sprint and hurdle mechanics and progressive training methods.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
Schedule & Compensation
- Training: 2–3 evenings per week (indoor and outdoor seasons).
- Competitions: Local and national meets on select weekends.
- Compensation: Stipend, based on experience.
