As a Testing Technician, you’ll play a direct role in helping departments keep their equipment safe, compliant, and ready for service.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing, setting up, and breaking down testing equipment
- Ensuring all systems function properly before and after each evolution
- Accurately managing inspection records and testing documentation
- Logging results using laptops, tablets, or other electronic devices
- Assisting with:
- Aerial testing (NFPA 1911)
- Ground ladder testing (NFPA 1932 / 1901)
- Maintaining equipment accountability at every job site
- Keeping company vehicles, trailers, and work areas clean and professional
- Working around public facilities such as firehouses, schools, and parks
- Operating vehicles and equipment safely and responsibly
- Wearing appropriate PPE including gloves, safety footwear, and eye protection
- Trustworthy, organized, and sound in judgment
- Willing to travel — including overnight stays when needed
- Familiar with fire department operations, terminology, and culture
- Firefighter certifications are a plus
- CDL A or B preferred (not required)
- Experience with — or willingness to learn — NFPA hose and ladder testing standards
- Professional communicator who represents the company well in the field
- Dependable, punctual, honest, and team-oriented
- Able to lift, pull, and carry equipment weighing 50–100 lbs
- Able to pass:
- Fitness for Duty Program
- Full background screening (MVR, Drug & Alcohol, Legal, Credit)
- Job Type: Part-time, Hourly
- Pay: Commensurate with experience
- Hours:
- 20–29 per week
- 30–39 per week
- Travel: ~75%
- Work Location: In person, multiple locations
- Language: English preferred
