About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Production Toolmaker to support deep draw transfer press operations at a leading manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on role focused on setting up, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex tooling to ensure quality and efficiency. Ideal candidates have strong mechanical aptitude and experience working with precision tools, blueprints, and shop math.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain complex tools, transfer fingers, and gages from blueprints, sketches, or verbal instructions
- Set up press tools, troubleshoot issues, and make adjustments to maintain production standards
- Perform manual finishing work: filing, grinding, fitting, contouring
- Run sample parts, inspect for quality, and coordinate approvals with Quality Assurance
- Remove/install tooling, perform machine adjustments, and support production start-ups
- Repair and harden tools, create spare parts, and coordinate with maintenance
- Enter SPC data and complete light computer data entry
- Work independently or within a small team/cell environment
Qualifications
- 5 years of toolmaking or precision machining experience
- Deep draw or transfer press tooling experience strongly preferred
- Proficient in shop math and trigonometry
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications
- Strong understanding of manufacturing safety practices
- High school diploma or equivalent; trade school/apprenticeship preferred
Work Environment
- Industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to moving machinery and vibration
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks (standing, walking, kneeling, reaching)
Pay range and compensation package
Pay Rate: $30 - $48 an hour
Hours: This position is currently at 40 hours, Monday through Wednesday at 12 hours and Thursday at 4 hours. There is the potential for overtime, and if so, that would take it to (4) 12-hour days.
