What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Operations Foreman position at Top Job Asphalt?
We’re looking for a hands-on field leader who likes being trusted, takes pride in a hard day’s work, and knows how to keep a crew moving.
As our Field Operations Foreman, you’ll lead a small asphalt maintenance crew and take ownership of the day—from the schedule and crew to quality, equipment, customers, and job completion.
You do not need asphalt experience to be successful in this role. If you know how to lead people, stay organized, solve problems, and get work done, we can teach you the technical side.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and work alongside a crew of 3–4 people
- Organize the day’s jobs, equipment, materials, and manpower
- Keep projects moving when plans, weather, or equipment change
- Make practical field decisions without needing constant direction
- Train employees and hold the crew to high standards
- Monitor workmanship, safety, and productivity
- Communicate professionally with customers
- Complete required paperwork, timecards, and job documentation
- Keep trucks, equipment, and jobsites organized
We want someone who thinks ahead, takes ownership, and is proud of the work their crew leaves behind.
Who Will Thrive Here
You’ll likely do well in this role if you:
- Enjoy leading people
- Have a strong sense of urgency
- Stay organized and think a few steps ahead
- Take initiative when problems come up
- Communicate well with customers and coworkers
- Hold people accountable
- Like working hard and seeing tangible results
- Want responsibility and the freedom to make decisions
Experience
Leadership experience is more important to us than asphalt experience.
Preferred:
- 5 years in a foreman, supervisor, crew lead, superintendent, or similar role
- Construction, excavation, paving, concrete, landscaping, roofing, utilities, or field-service experience
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Class A CDL preferred, but not required
Schedule
Our primary season typically runs April through November.
During peak season, expect:
- Monday through Saturday
- Approximately 50–70 hours per week
- Early mornings, overtime, and occasional long days
This is a great fit for someone who enjoys working hard during the busy season and wants a role with real responsibility and strong earning potential.
