Position Summary
A growing manufacturing and distribution organization is seeking a Distribution Center Supervisor to lead daily warehouse and logistics operations. This position is responsible for overseeing inventory control, shipping activities, workforce management, and process improvement initiatives while ensuring a safe and productive work environment. Key Responsibilities
- Direct daily warehouse operations, ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, movement, and shipment of materials.
- Develop and optimize warehouse slotting strategies based on inventory movement, order frequency, product dimensions, and handling requirements to improve efficiency and order accuracy.
- Monitor inventory levels and warehouse records to ensure accuracy and compliance with established processes.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to improve inventory integrity.
- Coordinate shipping activities to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of customer orders.
- Establish work schedules, allocate resources, and prioritize workloads to meet operational objectives.
- Provide clear direction, coaching, and support to warehouse personnel.
- Evaluate employee performance and ensure adherence to operational standards and company policies.
- Create, maintain, and improve standard operating procedures to enhance consistency, efficiency, and quality.
- Track and report operational metrics, productivity, inventory accuracy, and key performance indicators.
- Address operational challenges, employee concerns, and process-related issues in a timely manner.
- Promote a strong safety culture by enforcing safety standards and regulatory compliance.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, inventory management, and cost reduction.
- Maintain accurate attendance, productivity, and workforce records.
- Ensure warehouse cleanliness and organization are maintained at all times.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Associate degree or higher in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience within warehouse, distribution, logistics, or supply chain operations.
- 5 years of experience in a distribution center, warehouse, or related operational environment preferred.
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory control, transportation, and supply chain principles.
- Experience utilizing Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), ERP systems, or similar inventory management platforms.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or process optimization methodologies is a plus.
- Familiarity with customer shipping requirements, pallet configurations, load planning, packaging standards, and transportation best practices.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to analyze operational data and drive performance improvements.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a warehouse team of approximately 20 or more employees.
- Participate in recruiting, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management activities.
- Assign work, monitor productivity, and ensure operational goals are achieved.
- Resolve employee relations issues and support a positive team environment.
- Drive accountability while fostering employee engagement and development.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent walking and movement throughout warehouse and distribution areas.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 35 pounds independently and heavier loads with assistance.
- Ability to work in a physically active environment requiring standing, bending, and reaching.
- Visual abilities sufficient for inventory verification, equipment monitoring, and operational oversight.
