Overview
A growing manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Senior Quality Manager to lead quality strategy, compliance initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts across multiple operational functions. This leadership role is responsible for developing and maintaining a world-class Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory, and industry requirements while driving operational excellence throughout the organization.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in manufacturing quality systems, regulatory compliance, supplier quality, and team leadership. This position will partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Leadership teams to improve product quality, reduce variation, and enhance overall business performance.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and execute company-wide quality strategies aligned with business objectives and customer expectations.
- Provide leadership and direction for quality assurance, quality control, supplier quality, and compliance programs.
- Foster a culture of accountability, customer focus, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
- Lead, mentor, and develop Quality Engineers, Technicians, and Inspectors to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
Quality Management Systems & Compliance
- Maintain and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Serve as the management representative for ISO 9001 and related quality certifications.
- Oversee document control, internal auditing programs, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and management review processes.
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry, regulatory, and certification standards.
- Lead internal, customer, and third-party audits while ensuring timely resolution of findings and corrective actions.
Customer & Production Quality
- Drive customer satisfaction through ownership of quality metrics, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive measures.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for significant customer quality concerns.
- Partner with manufacturing and engineering teams to implement effective process controls and quality monitoring systems.
- Support statistical analysis, process capability studies, measurement system analysis (Gage R&R), and validation activities.
Supplier Quality Management
- Develop and execute supplier quality strategies to improve supplier performance and reliability.
- Lead supplier audits, assessments, corrective action programs, and supplier development initiatives.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain and Materials teams to address recurring supplier quality issues and improve overall supplier capability.
New Product Introduction & Continuous Improvement
- Support new product development and launch activities by ensuring quality requirements are met throughout the product lifecycle.
- Approve quality readiness and key deliverables associated with new product introductions.
- Lead Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives focused on reducing waste, improving quality performance, and lowering the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
- Facilitate Material Review Board (MRB) activities and disposition decisions for nonconforming materials.
Operational & Financial Management
- Manage departmental budgets and resources to support quality objectives.
- Monitor and report key quality performance indicators.
- Support strategic projects and initiatives as assigned by senior leadership.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive quality leadership experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing quality systems, compliance programs, and quality personnel.
- Strong knowledge of:
- ISO 9001
- APQP
- PPAP
- SPC
- CAPA
- Root Cause Analysis
- Internal and External Auditing
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and driving organizational change.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred
- Master's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or related field.
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
- Experience supporting highly regulated manufacturing environments.
- Advanced knowledge of quality tools, statistical analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Work Environment
- On-site leadership position within a manufacturing environment.
- Combination of office and production floor responsibilities.
- Frequent interaction with operations, engineering, supply chain, and leadership teams.
- Travel up to 25% may be required.
