What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Operator position at Top Grade?
We are seeking a reliable and skilled general operator to join our Site Management team. As an operator, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our construction site. Safely operate a variety of construction machinery, including skid steers, front-end loaders, and excavators, for excavation and hauling.
Responsibilities
· Site Preparation: Prepare construction sites by grading, leveling, and clearing land to ensure a stable foundation for structural projects.
· Excavation: Utilize machinery to dig precise holes and trenches for structural concrete work.
· Exterior Site Work: Prepare grounds for exterior concrete installations, including parking lots, driveways, sidewalks, and loading docks.
· Maintenance & Inspection: Perform daily pre- and post-shift inspections; monitor fuel and oil levels and conduct light maintenance to ensure equipment safety and longevity.
· Logistics: Assist in loading and unloading materials, equipment, and debris onto trucks or trailers for transport.
· Collaboration: Work closely with supervisors and crew members to coordinate tasks, prioritize activities, and meet project deadlines.
· Safety & Integrity: Maintain a high standard of safety, integrity, and service excellence in all daily operations.
· Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
Requirements
· Must be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license.
· Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret building plans, blueprints, land grades, and GPS positioning systems.
· Problem Solving: Skilled in identifying and resolving equipment malfunctions or operational challenges on-site.
· Physical Dexterity: Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to operate complex machinery and tools.
· Physical Stamina: Ability to perform strenuous physical labor, work in all weather conditions, and endure prolonged periods of operating heavy machinery.
· Soft Skills: Proven ability to work well within a team and maintain positive public relations while following strict safety protocols.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
