JOB OVERVIEW

Industry-leading energy and general contractor, Top Form Industrial, Inc., TFI, founded in 2006, specializes in back-up power, including generators, fuel cells, and battery energy storage systems, as well as primary meter conversions and switchgear replacement. With experience in the retail, industrial, utility, healthcare, data center, pharmaceutical, military/government, and water treatment/landfill reclamation industries, TFI specializes in both behind-the-meter and grid scale installations. Though TFI is based in Georgia, TFI has a solid infrastructure in place to support travel work in all states.

As a Fabrication Shop Manager, you will oversee daily operations in our fabrication shop, specializing in the construction of steel and aluminum structures. The Fabrication Shop Manager will supervise shop personnel, coordinate workflow, maintain quality standards, and ensure safe, efficient, and timely production. This role also carries responsibility for tool and inventory control, materials management, and oversight of loading and packaging operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise and lead shop fabrication crews in the welding and assembly of steel and aluminum wall sections, stairs, and platforms.
  • Schedule, assign, and monitor daily tasks to meet production deadlines.
  • Oversee welding operations (MIG, TIG, stick) to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and technical documents.
  • Inspect finished products to verify accuracy, quality, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Manage tools, consumables, and fabrication equipment, ensuring proper maintenance, calibration, and availability.
  • Control shop inventory and materials management, including tracking, ordering, and staging of raw materials.
  • Oversee loading, packaging, and shipment preparation of fabricated products to ensure safe handling, protection, and on-time delivery.
  • Maintain shop organization, workflow efficiency, and adherence to production schedules.
  • Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to resolve fabrication issues and improve production processes.
  • Track labor hours, productivity, and material usage to support cost control and reporting.

SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS

Experience: 5 years of experience in the manufacturing or fabrication facility operations with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of welding techniques (MIG, TIG, and stick), with emphasis on structural and aluminum work.
  • Proven leadership and communication skills for supervising and motivating shop personnel.
  • Familiarity with fabrication equipment, hand tools, and shop safety protocols.
  • Experience with inventory and materials management systems, as well as loading and packaging operations.
  • Strong forklift operation abilities with loading and offloading experience.
  • Welding certifications (AWS or equivalent) preferred, but not required.

Travel/Physical Requirements:

  • Shop-based role with frequent exposure to welding operations, noise, and machinery.
  • Requires use of PPE including welding helmets, gloves, and safety gear.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lb, and work around fabrication equipment.
  • Driver’s license and reliable transportation is a must.
