Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical background and have experience working with various heavy equipment and diesel engines. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining light to large vehicles, snowplows, diesel-powered vehicles, and machinery, ensuring they operate efficiently and safely. The Diesel Technician will work closely with other team members to provide exceptional service to our customers.
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting on diesel engines and related systems.
- Perform Repairs and Diagnosis on snowplows.
- Conduct routine maintenance on vehicles, including oil changes, filter replacements, and inspections.
- Repair and replace components such as transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics, and suspension systems.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to complete repairs effectively.
- Work with schematics to understand vehicle layouts and systems for accurate repairs.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment while adhering to safety protocols.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repairs and maintenance needs.
- Document all repairs and services performed on vehicles in accordance with company policies.
Experience
- Previous experience as a Diesel Technician or in a similar mechanic role is preferred.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation including excavators, cranes, farm machinery, and tractor-trailers is advantageous.
- Experience in automotive diagnostics and repair of diesel engines is essential.
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance practices including brake repair, alignment, shocks & struts, HVAC systems, and welding is beneficial.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely as required in the course of work.
- Dealership experience is a plus but not mandatory.
