Job Summary: The General Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of dealership operations, including sales, service, parts, and customer experience for two Shell Knob, MO locations. This role drives performance through effective leadership, operational oversight, and a hands-on approach to achieving company goals. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, strategic thinker, and team builder who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day operations across all departments (sales, service, parts, admin).
- Lead and support department managers and staff, setting clear expectations and goals.
- Drive sales and profitability while maintaining a customer-first approach.
- Monitor performance metrics, including sales targets, service KPIs, and inventory turnover.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Hire, train, and retain high-performing team members.
- Address customer concerns ensure customer satisfaction
- Support and participate in marketing efforts, campaigns, and boat show events
- Maintain internal accountability and help create a culture of communication, trust, and collaboration.
- Work closely with ownership to report progress, share insights, and develop long-term strategies.
- Perform other duties as needed to support the success of the dealership.
Physical requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and show boats for extended periods
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather
- Ability to safely climb in and out of boats and trailers
- Must be able to travel and work long or variable hours during events and peak seasons
Experience and Skill Requirements:
- Profit and loss responsibilities in prior job
- Strong leadership and management experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Microsoft suite experience, in particular, Word and Excel
- Lightspeed software background
- History of strong sales experience
Salary: $87,500 base with up to $100,000 in variable pay based on business performance.
