Precision Polisher / Mechanical Assembler
Toolcraft Machining, Inc. is seeking skilled Precision Polisher / Mechanical Assembler to join our team, at our facility in Germantown, WI. The Polisher / Mechanical Assembler preforms precision finishing, deburring, cosmetic repair, part marking, and mechanical assembly of close-tolerance machined components used in aerospace, defense, power generation, nuclear, and other critical industries. The ideal candidate for this role has machining knowledge, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work on demanding cosmetic and dimensional standards.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Deburr and polish precision machined components to engineering drawings, customer specifications, and company workmanship standards.
- Remove burrs, sharp edges, machining marks, and blend surfaces while maintaining dimensional integrity and critical tolerances.
- Perform cosmetic repair of minor dents, nicks, scratches, and handling damage using approved repair methods without affecting part function or compliance.
- Install threaded inserts to applicable industry standards.
- Complete assembly of tight fitting components including press fit with the use of thermal expansion and shrinking.
- Set up and operate laser marking equipment to apply identification, serial numbers, lot numbers, and other required markings while maintaining required location, depth, and legibility.
- Verify all markings for accuracy, readability, and compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
- Perform mechanical assembly of precision components using assembly drawings, work instructions, and torque specifications where applicable.
- Protect critical surfaces, sealing areas, threads, bores, and machined features throughout finishing and assembly operations.
- Perform light fitting, stoning, lapping, polishing, and hand finishing as required.
- Inspect finished components using visual inspection methods and precision measuring equipment.
- Complete required production, inspection, and traceability documentation.
- Identify workmanship or quality issues and communicate concerns to supervisors or Quality personnel.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas while following all TCM safety procedures.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and cross-train in other manufacturing operations as needed.
Essential Job Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in a precision machining or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.
- Experience in handling close-tolerance machined components.
- Proficiency using precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gages, and pin gages.
- Strong manual dexterity and excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to lift materials up to 50 pounds
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Preferred Not Required:
- CNC Machining experience
- Welding Experience
- Experience polishing stainless steel, Inconel, titanium, cobalt alloys, hardened steels, and other aerospace materials.
- Experience operating laser marking and dot peen marking equipment.
- Experience with cosmetic repair of precision machined components.
- Experience assembling mechanical assemblies.
- Working knowledge of GD&T.
- Experience in ISO 9001, or similar quality management systems
Job Type:
- Full Time – 1st Shift (M-F 7:00am-4:30pm)
- Hourly – non-exempt
- $4,000 sign-on retention bonus, paid over the first year
