INDUSTRIAL PRE-TREATMENT/CROSS CONNECTION (IPT/CC) INSPECTOR
Inspector I: Grade 14, $27.47- $30.33/hr.
Inspector II: Grade 16, $30.87- $34.08/hr.
Inspector III/Program Administrator: Grade 17, $32.72 - $36.13/hr.
Tooele City is seeking a qualified individual to join our Public Works team! This position plays an important role in protecting public health and the City's water resources by ensuring businesses comply with wastewater discharge requirements and that drinking water systems are protected from potential contamination. Duties include inspecting commercial and industrial facilities, evaluating wastewater discharges, identifying potential cross-connections and backflow hazards, and ensuring appropriate prevention measures are in place. The position also involves maintaining records, preparing regulatory reports, working with businesses to correct compliance issues, and supporting community water conservation efforts.
This is a career ladder position with three levels. The hiring level will be determined by Tooele City based on the applicant's qualifications, experience, and certifications.
Basic Qualifications (All Levels)
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Possess a valid driver license and driving record acceptable to Tooele City's risk-management and insurance standards.
- Computer skills, including data entry, reporting, word processing, email, and internet use.
- Must possess or obtain Utah Certified Cross-Connection Control Program Administrator certification within one year of assignment.
- Relevant experience in wastewater collection systems or water trades, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Inspector I:
- Three years of relevant experience.
- Wastewater Collection II or Water Distribution Operator II certification.
Inspector II:
- Six years of relevant experience.
- Wastewater Collection II and Water Distribution Operator II certifications, or Wastewater Collection III or Water Distribution Operator III certification.
Inspector III/Program Administrator:
- Six years of relevant experience.
- Wastewater Collection IV and Water Distribution Operator IV certifications.
- Advanced knowledge of applicable laws, codes, regulations, and program administration.
- Related education in environmental sciences, civil engineering, or a similar field may be considered in place of some experience.
Salary : $27 - $30
