What are the responsibilities and job description for the District Online Driver Education Instructor (Internal only) (Internal Only) position at Tooele County School District?
- Use State approved online course materials (in Canvas) provided by USBE.
- Update and add to state online courses materials to meet both district and state requirements.
- Work with DEC principal, high school counselors, and district driver ed director to be aware of updates to the program, enroll students, and provide guidance for the program.
- Prepare, communicate, and enforce driver education term timelines in the school year.
- Monitor student progress, grade, and provide feedback to all student course submissions within 2 business days.
- Effectively communicate and respond to student questions and inquiries within 2 business days.
- Proactively contact students and parents concerning student progress and term deadlines
- Provide students an opportunity to take the Written Driver Permit Exam during the term.
- Work to help students understand the requirements to participate in district Behind-the-Wheel Driver experiences and steps to earning a driver license.
- Approves students from the online course who meets all requirements and assigns them to district instructors for their Behind the Wheel drive experience
- Enter student successful completion of Driver Education in the Driver Education Management System within two business days of completing the course.
- Attend and participate in required district and state driver education meetings
- USBE Professional License
- USBE Professional License Area: Elementary Teaching, Secondary Teaching, CTE, Special Ed, Counseling, or Admin
- USBE Professional Endorsement: Driver Education
- Knowledge of Canvas Learning Management System
- Knowledge of effective online teaching methods and pedagogy
- Ability to synthesize and clarify information to support student learning as necessary
- Knowledge of Driver Education rules, regulations, policies, and procedures for TCSD
- Ability to use computer systems and software application to communicate with students/parents
- Ability to provide support for the online course (including morning/evenings, weekends, and holidays)

* This is an extra duty teacher position outside of a normal teaching contract *
Position Purpose:
Prepare, facilitate, and support Driver Education classroom instruction for students who request and sign up for the district online driver education program. The course will be offered four times a year during the school year terms and once over the summer. Students will be expected to complete the course by the end of the term.
