FIRE STATION FACILITY MAINTENANCE TECHNCIAN

(Open to Tooele City 1st Class Volunteer and Senior Status Firefighters Only)

$25.25/hour; Flexible Work Hours; Approximately 3 to 5 Hours Per Week

Tooele City is accepting applications from existing Tooele City 1st Class and Senior Status Volunteer Firefighters for a part-time, variable hour position as a Fire Station Facility Maintenance Technician.

Duties

You will support our fire department by performing routine organization, cleaning, and general maintenance and repair of assigned buildings and/or building areas. Some of the more typical duties include:

• Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping and sanitizing, dusting, emptying trash, cleaning restrooms, and similar cleaning duties.
• Purchasing and stocking supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, soap, cleaning products, salt or snow melts.
• Performing semi-skilled duties relating to the preventative and corrective maintenance of fire stations including basic plumbing, changing light bulbs, basic carpentry, changing air filters, repairing door and fixture hardware, leaking faucets or hose fixtures, exercise equipment repair and servicing, and similar tasks. Coordinating with the City's facilities maintenance team and/or vendors for work orders or other skilled needs.
• Moving furniture, tables, equipment, and supplies as needed.
• Removing water, snow, and/or ice from exterior entrances and walkways, walking surfaces, and stairs as needed to ensure safety.
• Maintaining service and maintenance records.
• Communicating issues or problems with the Chief.
  
  

You will also be responsible for coordinating deep cleaning needs and may be assigned to be present at department community events for trash removal or other maintenance duties.

Required Qualifications

• Knowledge of cleaning products, techniques, and equipment.
• Skill in general maintenance tasks.
• Self initiative and ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the job.
• Possess and maintain a valid Utah State Driver License and driving record acceptable to Tooele City's insurance and risk management guidelines
  
  

The hours of this position vary and are scheduled with the Chief.
